El Palmeral Park

El Palmeral Park

El Palmeral Park

Practical Information

El Palmeral Park is an expansive oasis of native and Mediterranean vegetation located along the seafront at the southern entrance to Alicante city. Its landscape stands out for a palm grove with more than 7,000 palm trees—predominantly date palms —creating exotic visual settings without leaving mainland Europe.

The site features wooden walkways, picturesque bridges, artificial lakes, waterfalls, a ‘pump track’-style sports circuit, and modern, inclusive recreational areas. It is an ideal location for period productions, film shoots set in tropical or colonial settings, sports sequences, adverts, and scenes featuring families and kids.

Availability for filming

  • Exclusive use periods / Partial closures: It is possible to arrange permits for exclusive use or the closure of specific areas (lake area, pump track, pergolas or footpaths) subject to prior coordination with the Alicante Film Office and the Department of the Environment / Parks and Gardens.
  • Night-time filming: Possible outside public opening hours, subject to prior authorisation.
  • Maintenance and gardening work: The municipal schedule for tree pruning and maintenance must be taken into account (particularly work at height on the 7,000 palm trees), and filming should be planned to avoid these maintenance days.

Best days for filming

  • Recommended Days (Monday to Thursday): Optimal logistical feasibility and lower public footfall.
  • Days and Times to Avoid for Complex Shoots:: Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and public holidays, due to high family attendance across the park, picnic area, and pump track. Summer months during peak daylight hours (June to August), due to both solar intensity and heavy continuous use of children’s and recreational areas.

Key Features & Facilities

  • Dense Native Palm Grove: Specimen trees up to 20 meters in height.
  • Footpaths, Wooden Walkways, Small Bridges & Waterfall: Scenic pathways traversing water features.
  • Pump Track Circuit: Technical track for bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, and scooters. Ideal for youth scenes, sports content, or urban brand commercials.
  • Children’s & Inclusive Play Areas: Spaces equipped with swings, trampolines, and interactive play structures.
  • Rest Areas: Covered wooden picnic areas integrated into the natural environment.

Lighting & Weather Conditions

  • Natural Lighting: High availability of natural sunlight year-round.
  • Shading Effects: The high density of palm trees creates natural light filtering and dynamic chiaroscuro effects.

Infrastructure & Logistics

  • Technical Vehicle Access: Direct entrance from Avenida de Elche / N-332, facilitating smooth access for production trucks, OB vans, wardrobe/equipment vans, and heavy vehicles.
  • Parking & Basecamp: External parking area adjacent to the park along Avenida de Elche, suitable for reserving space to set up technical basecamps, catering, and support units.
  • Internal Logistics & Park Accessibility:
  • A network of wide, flat, and firm paths (paved and compacted earth) allowing smooth movement for camera dollies, track setups, mobile platforms, and small-to-medium lighting cranes.
  • Fully adapted and inclusive site, ensuring universal access for crew and technical equipment across all park areas.
  • Utilities & Power Supply: For large-scale productions, mobile power generators are recommended. Fixed electrical outlets and municipal water points are available upon prior inquiry during the permit application process with the Alicante Film Office.

ADDRESS & LOCATION

  • Avenida de Elche, 109 – 03008 Alicante, Spain.
  • Vehicle Access: Direct access from the N-332 / Avenida de Elche. Excellent connectivity to Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport (under 10 minutes away) and the city center.
  • Public Transport: Accessible via urban and intercity bus routes (Lines 01, 27, and C6).

Postiguet beach footbridge

Postiguet beach footbridge

Postiguet beach Footbridge

Practical information

The Postiguet beach Footbridge is part of Alicante’s public road network, offering both a Mediterranean and avant-garde aesthetic. It is a pedestrian bridge that crosses Avenida de Jovellanos and leads directly to Paseo de Gómiz, which runs parallel to Postiguet Beach in the heart of the city, making it easily accessible for film crews.

Filming availability

As it is a public space, filming permits must be processed in advance through the Alicante Film Office.

Best days for filming

Weekdays, particularly early in the morning, are ideal due to lower visitor numbers and favorable natural light for daytime shots.

It is best to avoid weekends, the months of July and August due to high visitor influx, and the period between June 20 and 24, when Alicante’s main festival, Las Hogueras de San Juan, takes place.

Spring and autumn offer optimal weather conditions and lower visitor density.>/p>
